Choosing the correct ramp is important. Like finding the right size shoe or the correct glasses, it is essential that the best product is chosen to ensure your needs are met. The 4 simple steps outlined below should be enough to solve most situations, but please call us if you need more help.

Step 2 - How Steep?

 

Angle Height to width ratio Uses
14° 4xh 1:4 Too steep for most applications. Acceptable in some cases for very short ramps or lightweight scooter vehicle loading.
10° 1:6 Acceptable in some cases for assisted access and powered wheelchairs.
1:8 A good balance between gradient and space use, suited for events, etc.
1:10 Will provide independent access for most wheelchair users if space allows.
1:12 Often required by social services and authorities

Remember "The longer the ramp, the easier the slope"

 

Step 3 - How Long?

a. Measure the step height / level difference.
